Forty one and a quarter

On my 41st birthday, I blogged about what I hoped to achieve in my 42nd year.   It’s been a tricky 3 months with sciatica, flu and tonsillitis, but I thought it was time to review.

  1. Knit a pair of socks – Wool bought, pattern sourced
  2. Learn crochet – I’ve had a lesson with the lovely @meanyjar but not progressed any further
  3. Organise craft area of office – Done!
  4. Improve my jewellery making – I’ve made a bracelet, earrings and a handbag charm
  5. Blog at least weekly – Probably not, but I’m working on it
  6. Start adding pictures to the blog – Done!
  7. Learn machine embroidery – I’ve done a bit more research so I’m on track
  8. Scrapbook regularly – Big fail. No scrapbooking done at all.
  9. Bake bread regularly – Yes! I love baking bread.
  10. Bake with the craftyguidelets weekly – Regularly, perhaps not weekly. No one wants a germy cake!
  11. Send birthday cards and presents on time – So far, so good
  12. Take part in a swap – Many times. I’m a regular @popularcrafts swapper and I’m doing a @skullsandponies one.
  13. Tame the magazine mountain – Tamed while I was ill
  14. Knit a hat – Pattern and wool ready
  15. Knit gloves – Ditto!
  16. Use up my lavender stash – Lavender bags planned for my craft fairs in May.
  17. Begin gardening again – If it ever stops raining!
  18. Finish soon to be 3 year old craftyguidelet’s birth sampler – Not yet!
  19. Finish her Silvermist costume – I know where it is, but, erm, you know!
  20. Make an item of clothing for me – Pattern and fabric ready
  21. Comment on people’s blogs more, as I love it when they comment on mine – I’ve tried but can do better
  22. Keep food waste to a minimum – Doing really well with this. Need to try harder with bananas though.
  23. Cook at least one ‘effort’ meal a week – Apart from when I was ill, I’ve done well with this.
  24. Keep up with my housework app – Does anyone really sweep their porch weekly?
  25. Weekly craft days with the craftyguidelets – They love craft.   Can’t stop them!
  26. Exercise daily – Daily? Ever? Oops!
  27. Regularly get fresh flowers – Definitely.   They really make a difference.
  28. Start badge making – Badges ready for sale at May Fair.
  29. Make more time for friends – Who wants to hang out with a germ infested person?   Apart from that, I’ve not turned down any opportunities.
  30. Try felting – The wool was finally delivered so it’s ready to go when I have time.
  31. Don’t use the exercise bike as a clothes horse – Occasionally it is, but generally not.
  32. Decorate our bedroom and bathroom – Still at an impasse with husband over wallpaper.
  33. Buy handmade/local and make more gifts – Trying, but could do better.
  34. Listen to more music – I love my ipod!
  35. Sort my office admin area – Sorted.
  36. Finish the lacy scarf before it gets too warm to wear it – Finished and worn.
  37. Meet up with some tweeps – I met the lovely @meanyjar and have plans for a big tweetup soon.
  38. Clear my sky+ backlog – I finally came to the conclusion that I was never going to catch up on 12 hours of Desperate Housewives!   Delete.
  39. Make more desserts – Must try harder!
  40. Start Christmas preparations  in July – Fingers crossed.
  41. Never put off until tomorrow something I can do today – Yeah, right.

I give myself a C+ must try harder.   Second quarter starts on the 4th May, but I’ll see if I can start again tomorrow.   Or should that be tonight? (see #41!)
