Last January I turned 40. It wasn’t a big deal. It looks a mean old number, but as long as I don’t feel 40, I think that’s fine. This January I am 41. This is worse as I am now ‘in my forties’. I still don’t feel old enough to be a grown up though as I believe the saying – growing old is compulsory, growing up is not.
As I wasn’t blogging for my landmark birthday, I’ll have to do my list of things I want to achieve in my 42nd year on the planet now.
- Knit a pair of socks
- Learn crochet
- Organise craft area of office
- Improve my jewellery making
- Blog at least weekly
- Start adding pictures to the blog
- Learn machine embroidery
- Scrapbook regularly
- Bake bread regularly
- Bake with the craftyguidelets weekly
- Send birthday cards and presents on time
- Take part in a swap
- Tame the magazine mountain
- Knit a hat
- Knit gloves
- Use up my lavender stash
- Begin gardening again
- Finish soon to be 3 year old craftyguidelet’s birth sampler
- Finish her Silvermist costume
- Make an item of clothing for me
- Comment on people’s blogs more, as I love it when they comment on mine
- Keep food waste to a minimum
- Cook at least one ‘effort’ meal a week
- Keep up with my housework app
- Weekly craft days with the craftyguidelets
- Exercise daily
- Regularly get fresh flowers
- Start badge making
- Make more time for friends
- Try felting
- Don’t use the exercise bike as a clothes horse
- Decorate our bedroom and bathroom
- Buy handmade/local and make more gifts
- Listen to more music

- Finish the lacy scarf before it gets too warm to wear it
- Meet up with some tweeps
- Clear my sky+ backlog
- Make more desserts
- Start Christmas preparations in July
- Never put off until tomorrow something I can do today
I know lots of these are vague and not easy to tick off, but it’s something to aim for. Wish me luck. I’m going in!
Blimey that’s quite a hefty list! Lots of lovely things though – good luck with it and happy nearly birthday! 🙂
Happy happy birthday! You and I are worryingly alike… almost every single one of your goals made me go ‘yep, me too’! (apart from the craftguidelets as I don’t have children… but I have 38 cousins so I can always borrow one or two :P)
Looking forward to more blogs and photos, yay – and sharing your journey through your 42nd year 🙂
xx
Good luck and happy birthday! xx
Fabulous goals – I made some late last year to try to achieve over the next few years… not sure how quickly I will actually achieve them though! We share a number of goals – I didn’t think to write about blogging but that is definitely one of mine, as is jewellery making and making an item of clothing.
Happy Birthday Louise,
Loving your list of things to achieve. I should def make one of those! x
I love this list. We share a few ideas about what we want to achieve craft & lifestyle wise. Good luck in achieving them! X
